Panthers Busy: Sign Wharton to Extension

travellewharton.jpgThe Carolina Panthers continued a pretty busy day of activity signing left tackle Travelle Wharton to a six-year deal.  The move prevents Wharton from becoming a free agent at the end of February.

Rumors persist that the team will franchise Jordan Gross, the Panthers’ left tackle, if an agreement cannot be reached.  This would mean that the team would be returning both starting tackles from last season’s squad.

The story was reported by the Charlotte Observer.

What the heck does this mean! I really would like someone else thoughts on this! I think it means instead of drafting a LT in the 1st it might be the 2nd or 3rd. We have Wharton to start and let the new LT devlope or we put Wharton back at the guard spot and we have Wharton as insurance. I really dont know what to think about this! I am glad to the panthers are taking care of business early, and hopefully they sign hoover back like they said. Each guy we resign makes the draft predictions alot more clearer.
