Are the Panthers in the Javon Walker Sweepstakes

javonwalker.jpgThe Gaston Gazette is reporting an ESPN report stating that the Carolina Panthers have contacted free agent wide receiver, Javon Walker, is false.

There was a report earlier in the day on that the Panthers have contacted the agent for free agent wide receiver Javon Walker. However, sources close to the situation said that is false. The Panthers did inquire about trading for Walker some time ago, but no longer seem interested in him.

Seems that a lot of teams are interested in Walker and the favorite to land him might be Dallas.  But Walker has yet to visit anywhere and is playing this very cool.  The Panthers may or may not be in the running.  Either way, the team that lands him will have to cover themselves in the even that he isn’t fully healed.

There’s more in our Quick Hits…

The Atlanta Falcons have signed Michael Turner.  Turner was considered one of the top michaelturner2.jpgfree agents on the market.  He was given a six-year, $34.5 million contract including $15 million in guarantees.

Randall Gay has been signed by the Saints.  His deal is for 4 years at $17.6 million with $6.7 million in the first two years.

Broncos agreed to terms with DE Ebenezer Ekuban on a one-year, $1.12 million contract.

The Vikings have already added wide receiver Bernard Berrian but might also be interested in adding Jabar Gafney.

Ben Hartsock, formerly of the Titans, has signed with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Cardinals are meeting with defensive lineman Travis LaBoy from the Titans.

The Bucs are meeting with Eugene Wilson, a free agent safety from the Patriots.

The Bills remain active contacting tight end Alge Crumpler.

The Chiefs have offered to send backup S Greg Wesley to the Broncos in exchange for restricted free agent CB Karl Paymah.

Tight end Michael Gaines may be drawing interest from the Chiefs.

The Eagles have reportedly contacted the Redskins about Lito Sheppard “several times” in the past few weeks.

The Jets have contacted free agent FB Tony Richardson.

We’re only through three days so maybe we should be patient.  But the problem is that we haven’t really met with anybody yet.  That’s my concnern.  This team has got to get on the ball.

3 days is crucial since every other team is signing signing signing away… i mean in these last 3 days our division rivals have picked up some serious players if we dont get on the band wagon soon we are looking at 3rd 4th in our division… the only thing we have done so far is cut players.

yeah this is pretty much what happened last year…nothing at all until the least second when no one was avaliable and what did we get? nothing….like, its hard to get excited about next season…
