With the 48th Pick, the Panther Select...

I just can’t believe this. Golden Tate fell right into the Panthers’ lap at No. 48. But did the Panthers go with Golden Tate Warrior? No.

But they made a solid pick, didn’t they? Yeah, I guess; if you’re not interested in having a good season in 2010 and building for the future.

I have to say, I don’t like the pick at all. The number one need for Carolina was wide receiver, and that was blown on Jimmy Clausen.

The good side of it however, is the Panthers now have no need to acquire a veteran at the quarterback position, and the pick definitely puts Matt Moore on notice.

I love the pick. Yes, WR is our greatest need, but we have never had a franchise QB in our history. Clausen can be that guy. The biggest problem with our offense the past 2 years hasn’t been our WR’s, it’s been Delhomme.

Yeah, I’m growing more accustomed to the pick, Stephen. I just was suffering from the initial shock. I have a new post up about Clausen, though.

Thanks for the read and comment, and very good points.

i was mad as hell at first, but now im accepting this a little more. I wanted matt moore to be the qb this year. He still might be

Matt Moore is the QB this year; I think there will be a bit of a competition, but Moore is cool under pressure, and Clausen gives us depth and potential future at the position. I can see the Cats going with receiver in the third.

Thanks for the read and comment, Jimmy; you’re not the only one in a state of shock.

This was a very smart business decision. Hats off to Hurney and Fox for landing a strong competitor and an incredible athlete without having to trade up.

Yeah, I’m curious to see how Clausen does in the NFL. Could be a major steal for us, or worse. I’m hoping for the former.
