Panthers Make Trade in Third-Round

Just when I thought the Panthers were finished for today, a surprise pick came in, as Carolina traded next year’s second-round pick to the New England Patriots to select again in the third-round.

With that selection, Carolina took in-state quarterback Armanti Edwards, of Appalachian State.

However, Edwards will be converted to a wide receiver, and could see considerable time on special teams as a punt or kickoff return man, an area of need for the Panthers.

So, it seems that Carolina should be finished with tonight’s draft picks.

Friday night’s summary of picks: Jimmy Clausen; QB, Notre Dame, with the 48th overall pick in Round Two. Brandon LaFell; WR, LSU at 78 in Round Three. Armanti Edwards; WR, App State.

The fourth through seventh-rounds of the draft resume at 10 a.m. eastern and conclude Saturday.
