Reports: Beason Received Money in College

facebooktwitterreddit

Many have seen the ongoing investigation of

The University of Miami

in which Nevin Shapiro gave illegal donations to the athletics department, and scores of bounties to players.

On the list of players who received benefits from Shapiro is our very own Jon Beason. Shapiro allegedly gave Beason bounties for different stats accumulated during a game against Virginia Tech. Those bounties include: $50 per tackle (of which he had 8), $250 per sack (Beason had one), and $650 for starting in the game.

Records are shown in which Shapiro took Beason out to a nightclub event featuring Jay Z. At the event, Shapiro reportedly spent over $9,000 at the club with Beason on his bill.

Shapiro is on record saying:

"“Jon Beason was – he was my dude. We were real cool. I gave him cash. We played pool. We hung out. We were really friends. It wasn’t a matter of [being] about a ballplayer, because at the time I met him, he was really a nobody with regards to [being] a football player.”"

Whether or not this will effect Beason in any manner is yet to be seen. Hopefully all this will be taken care of in due time.
