The NFL Combine is one of the major highlights of the offseason, leading up to the NFL Draft.  The combine wrapped up a week ago, and we now have a few more observations to jot down beside all of the invitees.

One thing I feel that we will see this year, that has not been as prevalent in previous drafts, is a heavy focus on offense.

Gettleman knows that he needs to give his quarterback, Cam Newton the tools to do his job.  Adding Kelvin Benjamin, Philly Brown, Andrew Norwell and Trai Turner last year was a pretty impressive haul during draft weekend.  Gettleman’s ability to nail the draft the way he did, and acquire talent from the pool of undrafted players should have Panthers fans confident as the 2015 draft approaches.

In this new mock, I too, will focus on surrounding Newton with a lot of offensive support.  I believe the Panthers will add a veteran receiver in free agency, which will bring a knowledgable presence to Benjamin, Brown and the 2015 draftees.

I have Kenny Britt in my free-agent crosshairs as a strong WR2 to put on the outside.

I also think free agency is where the Panthers will upgrade the defensive backfield.

Bringing in a veteran cornerback like Chris Culliver or Walter Thurmond will balance nicely with Josh Norman and Bene Benwikere.  I also could see someone like strong safety Da’Norris Searcy pairing up nicely next to Tre Boston.

As for the fourth-edition of the Panthers’ mock draft, I tried to balance BPA with value in each selection.  Though there are some players that might be ‘ranked higher’, certain players have to fit into what Carolina is assembling.

Let’s begin the journey…..
