This is a busy time of year around the NFL. With the opening of the free agency signing period only two weeks away, teams are scrambling to make deals with players to prevent them from getting away. Others are releasing players to clear salary cap room so they’ll have some money to spend on players. Here are some quick hits from around the league…
According to the Boston Globe, the Patriots might make a big contract offer to Asante Samuel.
Darren McFadden says he would love to wind up in Dallas. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
There could be one more free agent cornerback in Ty Law if the Chiefs release him reports the Kansas City Star.
We could also see another safety added to the free agency mix. Atlanta could be releasing Lawyer Milloy. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
Long-time Miami Dolphin, Zach Thomas, got his release just yesterday and is already drawing interest around the league according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Scratch one free agent linebacker. The Cardinals have franchised Karlos Dansby. (Arizona Republic) You’ll also notice that the team is working hard to keep Larry Fitzgerald but for less than the $16.5 million they owe him this season.
Keith Brooking could be released by Atlanta making another linebacker available per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The Kansas City Star reports that right guard, John Welbourn, has been released by the Chiefs.
