The Moose Is Loose!
By John White
UPDATE: Muhsin Muhammad was signed today by the Panthers according to the Charlotte Observer.
"Muhammad’s return bolsters the Panthers’ receiving corps. He rejoins Steve Smith and will compete for a starting position, while also serving as a mentor to Dwayne Jarrett, a 2007 second-round draft pick."
We’ve been saying for days that the Carolina Panthers want to bring back Muhsin Muhammad. Now his agent, Joel Segal, is saying that a deal is “close” in a report published today in the Gaston Gazette.
"“Moose is very close to a deal with Carolina,” Segal said Tuesday. “I feel like we are making good progress. We’re still talking and there are a few things still to work out.”Panthers general manager Marty Hurney, who rarely discusses contract negotiations, also seemed unusually optimistic that a deal could get done soon.“We’re talking,” Hurney said Tuesday afternoon from Indianapolis. “Obviously we are interested in bringing Moose back and I think he’s interested in returning. Hopefully we can get it wrapped up in the next day or two.”"
