Mike Minter Discusses His New Book

We had the opportunity to speak to Mike Minter about his new book Driven By Purpose…The Power of a Dream.  It was an enlightening conversation.

First, let me say that I’ve had the opportunity in my lifetime to meet and interview a number of people from athletes to politicians.  Rarely, if ever, have I had the privilege to make the acquaintance of anyone with as much class, dignity and faith as Mike Minter.

Mike will be making his second appearance on our podcast this week.  The discussion covered the book in detail as well as his upbringing, his experiences at the University of Nebraska, his relationship with Tom Osborne, and, of course, we talked about the Carolina Panthers.

Comfort Publishing Announces Release of Mike Minter Biography

Concord, NC (July 31, 2008) – Comfort Publishing, a general trade book publisher headquartered in Concord, NC, will release of the biography of retired Carolina Panther Mike Minter on September 6, 2008.

In Driven By Purpose…The Power of a Dream, Minter tells his story for the first time – growing up in a single parent home in the Oklahoma projects, becoming the first in his family to receive a college degree, getting drafted into the NFL and tackling life after football.  His biography is the first celebrity release for Comfort Publishing and author, Pamilla S. Tolen.

“The book is a must read for anyone who believes he or she has a dream that can never be achieved,” said Tolen.

As a child, Minter’s mother told him he was intended for greatness, though the challenges that surrounded him – a fatherless home, poverty, negative influences and temptations – should have resulted in Minter becoming another statistic.
