I asked Brian Miller over at Phinphanatic, the Miami Dolphins, to provide us a scouting report on Josh McCown. It’s a little bit rough on us, but it’s honest and, unfortunately, probably right on the money.
Read on, if you dare.

Josh McCown was traded today by the Miami Dolphins to the Carolina Panthers. Â McCown who has spent exactly 3 months with the Phins struggled with accuracy through training camp and mini-camps.
The journeyman QB who last year was replaced by an ineffective Daunte Culpepper in Oakland, joined the Fins in free agency. Â Soon after training camp started, McCown found himself no longer fighting for a job with incumbent and fellow ineffective QB John Beck. Â Instead, he was fighting for the job with rookie Chad Henne.
The play of McCown and Beck led to the immediate signing of Chad Pennington upon his release from the NY Jets. Â McCown quckly slid to 3rd on the depth chart behind both Chad P. and Chad C. Â In practice, McCown would receive a total of 5 plays per team unit practice along with John Beck.
This preseason, Josh McCown played 10 downs.

Not pretty, is it?
