He’s Back!
By John White
A couple of sucker punches landed him in the dog house. The team has had to play without him on the field. Now, he’s back.
Steve Smith, one of the best wide receivers and one of the best playmakers in the NFL for the last five years has returned to the team. He got to come back on Monday.
Two games and two wins without Smitty have proven a couple of things – the Carolina Panthers can win without him and that his services might not be required if he is to pull another stunt like this one in the future.
As Panthers fans, we know how great Smith is. He can take a simple little pass and turn it into something special that covers 75 yards. The problem is his past and how he has somehow managed to get into trouble despite previous attempts to correct his anger issues.
He has been extremely apologetic this time around and seems to have turned a corner. I hope so. The team will need him despite that 2-0 start with him sitting at home.
Did anybody catch Chris Harris on the sidelines Sunday holding up that dry erase board with a message something like “This was for U Steve?”
His teammates want him back. They like this guy. He’s been known to be a great dude to have around in the locker room. Well, he is back. Let’s just hope this time there are no more suspensions waiting to happen.
