March Madness
By John White
It may be time to warm up to college basketball.
The Carolina Panthers have been quiet and will remain quiet keeping the month of March a dull and listless affair for fans of the team from the Queen City.
The problem is, we don’t talk about college hoops here. We talk about the Panthers.
I suppose I could mention the other-worldly sleet and snow falling here in the piedmont of North Carolina but I’m not a weatherman either. All I know is that I, alone with a hundred thousand others, could be sitting in a dark house with no access to any entertainment or sports when the lights go out.
Where does that leave us? How about we say goodbye to our offensive line depth?
Goodbye Geoff Hangartner and goodbye Frank Omiyale. We’ll miss your play and the depth you provided one of the best starting offensive lines in the NFL.
Next, we can prepare ourselves for the inevitable departure of Ken Lucas – unless, of course, he restructures that massive contract of his. He’s already nixed a trade to Detroit but could still be dealt away to another NFL city.
There certainly won’t be much news out of Charlotte. The team is strapped for space under the cap to make moves right now.
There’s not much to do. If you need me, I’ll be on my skis walking the dog.
