According to reports, second year receiver David Gettis will miss the 2011 season due to a torn ACL. Gettis is the third player Carolina has lost for the year so far in this training camp.
Gettis showed flashes of solid play in 2010 hauling in 37 receptions for 508 yards and three touchdowns. Though Gettis had not been particularly impressive in training camp, many Panther fans were eager to see if the 6’3, 215 lb receiver would be able to progress into a more reliable weapon this season.
Gettis was drafted by Carolina in the 6th round of the 2010 draft and was the 198th overall pick. Gettis played college ball at Baylor University.
