Panthers to be without four starters against Miami

The Panthers will be without at least four starters when it takes on the Miami Dolphins at Miami on Friday night. The team announced today that middle linebacker Jon Beason, offensive tackle Jeff Otah, offensive guard Geoff Schwartz and fullback Tony Fiammetta are are out for the game.

Being just the second preseason game, the injuries are not a big deal. Otah is out just as a precaution. The starting right tackle missed all of last season with a knee injury and has had some swelling in that knee so the team just didn’t want to risk it. Beason is still nursing a Achilles injury, while Schwartz is out with a hip injury and Fiammetta with a neck injury.

Cornerback Chris Gamble, tight end Gary Barnidge and running backs Jonathan Stewart and Mike Goodson are all also questionable. Stewart and Goodson did not participate in the team’s walk through today and if the two backs are out expect Tyrelle Sutton to get most of the work behind DeAngelo Williams.
