Ryan Kalil Signs a Six Year Contract with Carolina
The Carolina Panthers have announced that they have reached an agreement with center Ryan Kalil to extend his contract. According to reports the extension is worth $49 million over six years. The extension will make Kalil the highest paid center in the NFL. The new contract also includes $28 million in guaranteed money.
This is welcomed news on multiple fronts. One, it locks up the anchor of the Carolina Panthers offensive line for a long time. Kalil’s leadership on the line and in the clubhouse has increased recently. Secondly, Kalil’s new contract will lower his cap number this year allowing the Panthers to go look on the free agent market at players they may want to sign.
According to reports, the Panthers had $1.7 million in cap room before Kalil’s extension.
