BREAKING NEWS: Smith to play against Bengals
Well it looks like Cam Newton will have his best offensive weapon in his second career start on Thursday night, as it sounds as though star wide receiver Steve Smith will play in the game.
Smith has been out most of training camp and missed the first two preseason games with a finger injury in which a ball split the webbing in between Smith’s fingers. He was taken off in a cart and originally the injury looked a lot worst but thankfully it was only minor. Smith talked about the injury and about getting back on the field yesterday night.
"The first thing they said was, ‘We think it’s a compound fracture,'” Smith said. “That means they would have to re-break it to put it back in place. There was blood everywhere already. It was a little much, talking about breaking and re-breaking, but it was fine."
And Smith seems to be very excited to get back out on the field after missing a lot of time. The receiver believes that the offense has been slowly improving and has gotten better each and everyday.
"It will be fun,” Smith said. “Today was probably our best practice. We were going on all cylinders. When Thursday comes around, hopefully we’ll be able to display that on a lot of plays."
