NFC South Standings Week Eight
Well the Carolina Panthers finally got back in the win column this week as they beat the Washington Redskins 33-20 and they picked up a game on at least one divisional opponent, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost last week to the Chicago Bears in London, England. But that was the only ground the Panthers gained as both the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons both won this week.
The Falcons win was much more impressive as the team beat the Detroit Lions who lost just their second game of the year. On the other side the Saints rolled and I mean rolled over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night football putting up 62 points in an easy victory over the lowly Colts. The Saints without a doubt look like the team to beat this year in the South. Their offense has been pretty much unstoppable and their defense has played well enough.
This week the Panthers have another chance to gain some ground as the Falcons and Bucs are both on their bye week. The Saints should have another pushover win as they take on the St. Louis Rams but for the Panthers this is the real stretch in the schedule where they have to capitalize if they want to have a chance at the playoffs. It started last week with a win over the Redskins and the next two games are very winnable against the Vikings this week and then against the Tennessee Titans two weeks later. If the Panthers can pick up these two wins and get to 4-5 with seven games to go they can be in a pretty good position for the remainder of the season.
