Panther’s Newton listed on week eight injury report
It is week eight and the Panthers are just a three days away from trying to get its first winning streak of the season going. Sitting at 2-5 on the season the Panthers are looking to build on the momentum they built after beating the Washington Redskins last Sunday, heading into this weeks game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Luckily, it looks like the Panthers will be close to full strength for the game against the Vikings. The Panthers released their injury report earlier today and it was pretty clean. The team had just four players listed on the report, quarterback Cam Newton, safety Jordan Pugh, linebacker Omar Gaither and cornerback Darius Butler.
Now before you go freaking out Newton is listed as probable and will be the team’s starting quarterback on Sunday. He is only listed on the report for an undisclosed illness. Gaither, who has missed the past two weeks with a knee injury, was limited in practice Wednesday but fully participated in practice Thursday and Friday and is listed as probable. With the Panthers going up against Adrian Peterson this week they will need all hands on deck to stop the NFL’s most prolific rusher.
Pugh is still struggling with a concussion that caused him to miss last weeks game. He hasn’t practiced all week and is listed as doubtful. Backup cornerback Darius Butler hasn’t practiced all week as well. The report says that Butler is out with a non-injury but he is listed as questionable for the game.
