Stadium renovations coming to BOA?
It sounds as though the Carolina Panthers front office is looking to renovate the 16 year old stadium for the team. Bank of America Stadium, as it is now known has been the home to the Panthers ever since 1996 and seen some great football games over its short lifetime.
Team President Danny Morrison announced today that the team has rehired the same architecture firm that built the Panthers stadium in 1996 to begin a year long study about how to properly renovate the stadium.
The group that Morrison hired is now known as Populous but was known as HOK sport when it first designed and built the stadium 16 years ago.
Morrison told the Charlotte Observer that he hired Populous firm because of the familiarity with the stadium and how well it has already held together.
"“The bones are fantastic. It’s been superbly maintained over the years. It still looks fresh and updated because a lot of money’s been put into the stadium over the years,” Morrison said. “They love the concept of the ‘stadium in the park’ with all the landscaping around the stadium and the location of the stadium.”"
I for one think that this is a great move, but one that is needed right this minute. Bank of America Stadium I feel like is still in pretty good condition. I have had seasons tickets for over ten years know and love the atmospehere, the location and how well the stadium has been maintained. It doesn’t look old or rundown at all and from what I have seen, this isn’t really a bad seat in the house.
They made a big change a couple years ago replacing the old video screens and scoreboards with the latest HD TVs and that really made a difference for watching the game and replays.
So we will see what types of changes are in store for the stadium. Based on what the team has already done over the years, I can only guess that renovations will be just what fans are looking for.
What do you think about Bank of America Stadium? What would you like to see added on or changed with the renovations?
