Notable Roster Cuts as All NFL Teams Shrink to 53 Tonight
By Ken Dye
The Arizona Cardinals named John Skelton the starter over Kevin Kolb. They’ll be on their third QB by week 3.
The Miami Dolphins are apparently looking to trade QB Matt Moore. They want to keep Garrard and Pat Devlin. Moore has a history of being a great teammate, well-respected, and a hard worker. He would be a loss to the locker room, but Moore frankly had a pretty bad camp. The injury to QB David Garrard would seem to complicate matters, but I guess that means they feel he’ll make a quick and full recovery.
My destination guesses would be just guesses right now but the Cardinals wouldn’t surprise me. If they can somehow do something with their interior OL, Moore would be an upgrade over either Skelton or Kolb and at a fraction of Kolb’s cost. He’d also have Larry Fitzgerald and first-round rookie Malcom Floyd to throw to. Pretty much anywhere he goes, he’ll have better receivers than where he came from.
Jim Irsay isn’t tweeting anything in particular so we can rule out the Colts on this one I think.
