…but I couldn’t leave without a comment. I don’t think anyone should be surprised they wanted to keep WE Jared Green. The Panthers actually have some depth now at WR and Green fascinates them probably as much as he does me. Small-school kid that needs development, but considering his Dad’s a Hall of Fame cornerback, that’s a check mark in his favor.

TE Nelson Rosario is worth keeping around without a lot of depth behind Greg Olson. I’m not surprised to see RB Armond Smith here, nor would I have been surprised to see Tauren Poole here. There’s just too much talent in the Carolina backfield as it is for a 4th RB to do anything. Injuries happen especially at RB, so you never can have too many bodies there. Smith is a fine addition to the practice squad.

I’m sure everyone’s wondering about DT Nate Chandler from UCLA. There’s little data on the UFA rookie from UCLA because he was moved around in college. He spent two years at TE and some time at DE before being kicked inside. Word is he practices hard and has a high motor. “On the film I just try to chase the ball. Even if I’m not in the play, I’m still running after the ball,

“On the film I just try to chase the ball. Even if I’m not in the play, I’m still running after the ball,” Chandler says in The Charlotte Observer.

A guy like that being a hard-working rookie has to motivate the veterans by example. Nobody can be shown up in a drill by a rookie, especially an undrafted one from the waiver wire. If nothing else, he could develop into something and his positive team-first attitude is a bonus for the locker room.
