The soon-to-be 31-year old Eric Winston would be a great addition to the right side of the Panthers’ offensive line.
Winston last played for the Arizona Cardinals in 2013 and hasn’t missed a game since 2009. He is not an elite-level tackle, but is a road-grading right tackle. Winston is a below-average pass blocker, but the Panthers’ running game is sorely lacking a player like Winston.
Considering that he is yet to be signed by anyone in 2014, I would think his price tag would be pretty low.
Winston has to be better than what Nate Chandler or Byron Bell have shown in ’14, and would provide a veteran presence beside rookie RG, Trai Turner. Cam Newton and his cast of merry receivers and backs don’t necessarily need All-Pro linemen, but the offense certainly could use help in the running game.
Only downside I see to this is that recently, Winston had a few choice words for Head Coach Ron Rivera‘s verbiage used in describing Kelvin Benjamin’s concussion. Let’s kiss and make-up for the good of the team.
