Why does it seem as though everyone is always doubting Cam Newton, quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, but nobody seems to ever doubt Russell Wilson, quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks?  Is it because Wilson plays in Seattle – a city so far in the Northwest we sometimes forget it is even on the map?  I mean it rains how many days a year up there?

Could it be because Newton has always been under more of a microscope since he seemingly won at everything he competed in during his path to the NFL?  Maybe it is because Newton came out of Auburn, a school that can almost be found on national television coverage each fall weekend, while Wilson, after starting his career at North Carolina State and finishing it at Wisconsin, both schools who rarely saw national television.

Wait a second, I know what it is.  It is because Newton was selected with the 1st pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, making everyone think he would immediately take the Panthers to the promise land, while Wilson was drafted with the 75th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, making everything think he would be lucky to make the Seahawks as the second or third string quarterback.

Well, whatever you think, there is no doubting either quarterback and both quarterbacks signed huge contract extensions this offseason.  Now are they worth it?
