If you remember, we previously spoke to NFL analyst Kevin Stott, of SportsbookReview.com, who selected the Carolina Panthers to win the NFC South for the 2015 season.  So as the season approaches and we are a little under a week away from the first preseason game for the Panthers, we figured we would get another NFL analyst from SportsbookReview.com to give us his thoughts on the NFC South for the 2015 season.

This time, Jason Lake was the analyst from SportsbookReview.com sharing his prediction.  Panthers fans, you might not be so happy, while New Orleans Saints fans, you can rejoice.  Why you ask?  Lake picks the Saints to come away with the NFC South title.

Well, I had to find out from Lake why he picked the Saints and of course, I had a rebuttal for each reason on his reasoning, both agreeing on some points and disagreeing on other points.

Question:  What was the best offseason move for the Panthers?

Answer:  Signing QB Cam Newton to a five-year contract extension, and getting it done well before the start of training camp.

Rebuttal:  I have to say I agree 150% with Lake here.  Securing Cam before training camp eliminates the speculation of going into training camp and the season of ‘is Cam going to be here long term’; ‘does Gettleman believe in Cam as bring the quarterback of the future for the Panthers’; and any other crazy points people would make.  Plus, we have all seen how contract discussions can be a distraction and deflate a team.  This is not happening with the Panthers.
