The hero for the Carolina Panthers versus the Seahawks

The final score in the game between the Carolina Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, 27-23.  Yes, this was the Panthers having the 27 points and the Seahawks having the 23 points.  It was a surprise for sure, but it was the Panthers playing a great game and taking the steps needed to be an elite NFL team, no matter what you say.

Yes, we know that coming off a bye week, Ron Rivera was 0-4 and the Panthers averaged 9.0 points a game.  But that was then, this is now.  This is the new Carolina Panthers.  You might not have thought they were capable of doing this with all of the injuries the Panthers have gone through, but the reason the Panthers are sitting at 5-0 is not because of one player, it is because of many players joining together.  So was there one hero versus the Seahawks, or several.

You might think I am going to say Cam Newton, I mean he did throw the game winning touchdown pass,

had a touchdown pass to Jonathan Stewart and ran for another score, but lets start in another direction.

Start with Jonathan Stewart.  Stewart scored for the first time this year on Sunday.  He not only scored once, he scored twice.  What we thought was Stewart falling off, he might have been awoken on Sunday to have a big campaign the rest of the year, back to where he left off at the end of the season last year.

Now we should go to the defensive side of the ball.  The defense was solid, stopping Russell Wilson when needed and not let him run wild.  But, it was clear who the MVP of the defense was – it was the man who had been missing since the first half of week 1 – Luke Kuechly.  Kuechly only had 14 total tackles!

You can say Cam was a hero, but he has been a hero all season.  You have to consider Devin Funchess a hero.  He dropped many passes, but he came up with three huge catches late in the game.  Keys to the comeback.  Funchess might have become a player on Sunday.
