The Carolina Panthers achieved the main factors versus the New York Giants

The Carolina Panthers remained undefeated yesterday, defeating the New York Giants, 38-35, with a last second field goal by Graham Gano.

However, it was a very ugly win thanks to the likes of the Giants wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr., not being able to keep his cool and playing ‘ridiculously’ in what could have caused major injuries.

But, did the Panthers check off the boxes they needed to in winning the game?

The first factor was the best cornerback currently in the NFL, going up against the best wide receiver currently in the NFL – Carolina Panthers’ Josh Norman versus the New York Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr.

This was ugly from the beginning.  It appeared as if Beckham started the game out for blood.  After dropping what was a sure touchdown reception, Beckham went off the deep end.

On each play, he took a cheap shot at Norman, even one time coming into a pile as a torpedo, going helmet to helmet with Norman.  Luckily Norman as not hurt.  Beckham was called for three personal foul penalties, one offensive pass interference penalty and one illegal formation on the game-winning field goal.

The second factor was the play of Jason Pierre-Paul.  Coming off an injury where he almost blew off his

hand in a fireworks accident on the Fourth of July, which could have ended his career, Pierre-Paul continues to play better each week.

On Sunday, Pierre-Paul only managed three total tackles, however he did get to Newton once for a sack.  But, Newton threw a touchdown pass just over Pierre-Paul’s outstretched arms, which he likely could have tipped if he had a full hand.

The third factor, Eli Manning.  Manning started the game out slow, well, actually his receivers dropped a lot of passes, but he was able to lead the Giants back from being down 35-7, to tie the game at 35 a piece.  Manning finished the day only 29 of 46 for 245 passing yards, but he did have four touchdowns, while throwing an interception, he should have never thrown, taking away a Giants’ touchdown.

Overall, the Panthers checked the boxes, but Beckham lost the game for the Giants.
