Round 4: pick 129: Daniel Lasco – California RB

Why the Carolina Panthers need him:

Gettleman has picked a running back in the last round in all three of his drafts so far as the Panthers general manager. With Jonathan Stewart recently turning 29 years old it may be time to be more aggressive about finding his eventual successor.

Lasco has the size (6’0″ and 209 pounds) that the Panthers prefer in their backfield and four years of college experience, which is becoming more and more rare these days.

In 2015 Lasco scored 12 touchdowns and rushed for over 1100 yards.

Highlights:

The good:

“Broad shoulders and a good size overall with the frame to potentially handle another 5-10 pounds of muscle without sacrificing his agility and speed. Legitimate NFL athleticism. Good initial quickness to and through the hole, showing the 0-to-60 acceleration to offer big play potential.” -CBS Sports

The bad:

“Can fall in love with his own big play potential and will look to bounce plays outside too often rather than burrowing ahead for the tough yardage. Must do a better job of protecting the football, failing to wrap both arms in traffic.” -CBS Sports
