Round Five #141 Overall: Zack Sanchez: Oklahoma CB

Grade: B

Why: Zack Sanchez is smaller (5’11”, 185 pounds) than the first two cornerbacks selected but has good speed and tremendous play-making capabilities. During his time at Oklahoma he grabbed 15 interceptions and recorded 28 pass breakups, with seven passes picked in 2015 alone. Sanchez recorded 45 tackles to go along with his picks which was enough to earn him a Second Team All-American recognition.

As previously mentioned, the draft was loaded with talent at the cornerback position and finding someone with Sanchez’s ceiling remaining in Round Five is a good deal. Sanchez himself has been self-confident throughout the draft process, even calling himself, “the best defensive player in the draft, hands down.” Though he very well may be, he could definitely use improvement in run support and tackling.

Not only will he be thrown into the cornerback position battle, but Sanchez  may laso play nickelback part time with Brandon Boykin.
