QUARTERBACK

Starter: Cam Newton

The Panthers are locked and loaded at the game’s most important position with reigning MVP, Cam Newton, at the helm. 2015 saw Newton finally put it all together and he was the key cog in the Panthers 15-1 regular season and second ever Super Bowl berth. With a career high 35 touchdown passes to just 10 interceptions last season, Newton will look to keep up the efficient production as he heads toward the 2016 season. Newton’s accuracy can still be improved however with just a 59.8% completion percentage and will certainly be the Carolina QB’s key area to work on in camp.

Backup: Derek Anderson

Lauded as one of the league’s top and most experienced backup QBs, Derek Anderson will be back with the team for his sixth year with the Panthers and his sixth year behind Newton. Anderson’s reliability and consistency have proven to be an asset for Carolina as was evident in 2014 when he was forced to start two games and won both. Anderson gives the Panthers exactly what you want out of your backup quarterback and they’ll be glad to have him once again.
