Final Grade

Grade: 85 out of 100

The Carolina Panthers have focused more on the defense the past few years in the NFL Draft but they proved that won’t happen this year. It is clear that they are on the hunt to find weapons for Cam Newton.

It is also clear that they are valuing versatility and Curtis Samuel brings that along with a ton of speed. He was the primary weapon on the Buckeyes’ offense last year and was a big-play threat for them with over eight yards per carry and 11.7 yards per reception.

It will be interesting to see how strict the Carolina Panthers are with his new role as a slot receiver or if they move him around. The more flexibility they have, especially early in his career, will help him have a bigger impact as a rookie.
