After news of the Buffalo Bills signing Brandon Beane, the team apologized to his former employer.

It was announced by the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday night that Brandon Beane would be their new general manager. Beane had spent the past 19 years with the Carolina Panthers in a number of different roles, including recently as assistant general manager.

More from Carolina Panthers News

Beane follows Sean McDermott, who was the Panthers’ defensive coordinator and now head coach of the Buffalo Bills. He also will join three Carolina Panthers’ players who signed with the Bills this offseason. This group includes Philly Brown, Mike Tolbert and Leonard Johnson.

After news broke of the Bills bringing Beane on as their GM, the team’s official twitter account tweeted out an apology of sorts to the Panthers for “stealing your staff.”

Brandon Beane has been a valuable member of the Carolina Panthers front office for nearly two decades. As Chris Brown notes, Beane has played an integral role the past nine seasons as assistant general manager.

"Spending the last nine years as assistant GM and Director of Football Operations, Beane has coordinated all aspects of the Carolina football operation from personnel to scouting, player development, coaching as well as the medical and strength and conditioning staffs.Working alongside Panthers GM Dave Gettelman, Beane assisted in the evaluation of players at both the pro and college level. He has helped to build the Carolina draft board each of the past six years in addition to directing portions of the club’s draft including trade negotiations."

While Beane won’t be on the field, this addition is just another piece that will add intrigue early in the 2017 season. The Buffalo Bills will be traveling to Charlotte in Week 2 to take on the Carolina Panthers.
