Curtis Samuel

The Carolina Panthers knew that Curtis Samuel was fast, but they may not have known he is that fast. According to Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer, Thomas Davis described Samuel as a player who has ‘right now’ speed. Fowler then quoted Davis to head coach Ron Rivera who said in response:

"“Yeah, ‘right now’ is a good way to put it,” Rivera said. “The biggest thing you see from Curtis is his acceleration. He gets from zero to top speed pretty doggone quick. He creates his separation in the 15-20 yard area."

Samuel has the potential to be a dynamic player in this offense and based on his ability to get to top speed quickly, he doesn’t need much time to turn a normal play into a big one.

As I mentioned in Shepard’s slide, the wide receiver position is going to be very competitive because of the talent the Panthers have. However, Samuel’s speed could leave the rest of the competition in the dust.
