See how each Carolina Panthers defensive unit performed during the second preseason game…

A positive outing for the Carolina Panthers defense against the Houston Texans during the first preseason game was followed up with a dismal performance against the Titans. While the offense continuously put the defense on the field in terrible position, the Panthers couldn’t get a stop.

Not only did Carolina give up three, fourth-down conversions but they failed to create any turnovers to go against the Titans three takeaways. Further, Tennessee allowed an astonishing eight sacks while playing the New York Jets a week ago, but the Panthers could only generate one.

Linebacker David Mayo was one of a few bright spots for the Panthers defense as he firmly asserted himself into the backup role behind Luke Kuechly. As other position battles continue those who display proper tackling and physical play will ultimately find themselves on the final 53-man roster before the regular season begins.

Following is a look at the grades earned by each defensive unit for their performance.
