Safety depth is quickly becoming a major area of concern for Carolina as the season draws closer. Projected starter Mike Adams was late in coverage allowing the first Tennessee touchdown to tight end Delanie Walker after a Panthers fumble.
Dezmen Southward continued a good preseason as he hopes to earn a spot among the final 53-man roster. He briefly left after apparently injuring his back but returned to action in the second half.
Overall the defense did not play to same level of a week ago and failed to generate much pressure on any Titans quarterback. The unit struggled with missed tackles which is sure to be a focus entering the third preseason game. Typically, the first-team receives extended playing time in game three and fans should benefit from a good look at what to expect from the Panthers during the 2017 season.
Carolina travels to Jacksonville for their next preseason game against the Jaguars on Thursday, August 24 with kickoff scheduled for 7:30pm.
