Cam Newton can win the big games

This was exactly the type of game Cam Newton needed to have for a number of reasons. The Panthers quarterback has struggled through the first three weeks of the season. The offense has sputtered and this is due in part to Newton looking out of sync.

That was not the case Sunday against the Patriots as he completed 22 of 29 pass attempts for 316 yards with three passing touchdowns. He also had his best game of the season on the ground with 44 rushing yards and one touchdown.

However, it just wasn’t Newton having a good game but the circumstances around this game. This was arguably the biggest game the Panthers’ quarterback has played in since Super Bowl 50, a game where he did not play at his normal MVP level from that year.

Newton proved on Sunday that he can rise to the occasion in these big moments and play at a high level. This should be a big boost to his confidence moving forward this season.
