Graham Gano was clutch when needed

The margin of error is small when facing a good team like the New England Patriots. The Panthers almost saw their win slip away after a missed extra point by Graham Gano in the third quarter.

That missed extra point actually made the end of the game in Week 4 much more dramatic. If Gano was able to make that kick, the Patriots would have had to go for two to tie it on their final touchdown instead of an extra point of their own.

However, that miss didn’t affect the Panthers’ kicker and when he was put in position to win the game, he drilled a 48-yard field goal as time expired. This is something Gano hasn’t really excelled in as of late, even missing the game-winner against the Denver Broncos in Week 1 of last year.

The veteran kicker was caught in a position battle with rookie Harrison Butker. However, he eventually won the job and on Sunday validated the trust he had gained from the organization.
