Nickel corner Captain Munnerlyn was inactive for the game a week after playing a majority of the snaps on defense in linebacker Thompson’s absence. After leaving practice earlier in the week, coach Ron Rivera decided to send a message to both Munnerlyn and his team.

In his absence, three different defensive backs combined to fill the nickel role and execute on defense. Colin Jones, Kevon Seymour and Jairus Byrd all played well with Jones recording an interception.

On the outside, both James Bradberry and Daryl Worley each also recorded a takeaway for the second consecutive game. Finally, it was Bradberry’s forced fumble and recovery by safety Mike Adams that sealed the win for Carolina.
