Impacting the game from both ends of the spectrum recently, the Panthers special teams almost struck again. After allowing Green Bay to pull within one score, the Panthers failed to recover the ensuing onside kick.
Rookie running back Christian McCaffrey attempted to secure the football after initially hesitating but it was too late as the ball squirted free. The Packers recovered, giving Rodgers two-minutes to tie but a fumble ended the game.
Overall, it was another solid effort from the defense and one that provided many positives for the secondary specifically. Often considered the weakest link of an otherwise strong unit, if the secondary can continue forcing turnovers and creating opportunities for the offense, Carolina will be poised for more success past the regular season.
