For the Panthers to climb all the way up to No. 2 they also need a loss from Los Angeles, who owns a better conference record. If Carolina wins out then it won’t matter if the Rams loss comes from within the conference or not, meaning a loss to Tennessee would work.

The Titans are currently the fifth seed on the AFC side of the bracket but involved in a close race themselves. They can clinch a playoff berth with a win and some help, somewhat surprising considering they have lost two straight.

Facing the Rams and Jacksonville next week, Tennessee is also on the potential brink of elimination if they lose out.
