National media predictions for the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers…

The Carolina Panthers conclude a final three game home stand with divisional rival Tampa Bay before the season finale at Atlanta in one week. Depending on Sunday’s results, that game could be for the divisional title.

But first, the Panthers must conclude their home schedule with a win. Doing so would punch their ticket to the playoffs for the fourth time over the past five seasons as Carolina can claim a wild-card, at minimum, with a win over the Buccaneers.

If the Panthers get some help, they could finish as high as the number two overall seed with a bye and home playoff game. However, they could also miss the playoffs entirely if things do not fall their way meaning Sunday’s game is relevant and cannot be overlooked. Amid the outside distractions of a franchise sale and owner investigation, staying focused will be key for coach Ron Rivera and his team.

Following is a look at who various media outlets expect to win when the Panthers and Buccaneers kick off Sunday.

CBS Sports – Carolina Panthers

Seven of the eight analysts picking in Week 16 favor the Panthers at home. With an overwhelming majority, 92-percent, the open general public poll also shows almost every visitor to the site is also siding with the experts.

ESPN – Carolina Panthers

Nine of ten experts from ESPN have Carolina but unlike the previous poll, number ten made no selection in the game. For the first time in numerous weeks, the Panthers were a clean sweep across the board from ESPN, including fan choice, where Carolina is favored as well.

FOX Sports – Carolina Panthers

After 501 simulations in the Fox Sports computer, it was determined the Panthers have a 67.9-percent chance at victory on Sunday. However, against a wide spread (-10), the visiting Buccaneers are favored.

NFL.com – Carolina Panthers

Elliot Harrison favors the Panthers but not in convincing fashion. Citing past stumbles when favored by a majority, Harrison believes Carolina will win but that it won’t be easy.

Sports Illustrated – Carolina Panthers

Facing a listed nine and one-half point spread against the Panthers, who are favored, five of six Sports Illustrated pundits have sided with Carolina. Not only do they expect the Panthers to win but in somewhat convincing fashion by at least a margin of two scores.
