Even in defeat, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton remains the envy of Saints defensive lineman Cameron Jordan…

After losing to the Saints for a third time this season, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton took full responsibility. Despite throwing more pinpoint passes than not, keeping his team in the game and almost pulling off an unreal comeback on his last possession, Newton wouldn’t point fingers at his supporting cast.

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan danced in the locker room and unleashed a bevy of tweets regarding the Saints win after the game. His insults included calling Panthers left tackle Matt Kalil, “Speedbump McGee” and posting comments to others who had tagged him in memes created from the game.

One of the more insensitive posts came via a resounding, “Dilly Dilly,” the Bud Light marketing catchphrase often used in support of various acts. Short for delightful, Jordan showed his appreciation for Newton being injured late in their playoff game.

The picture of Newton, sitting upright on the turf and being attended to by the Panthers training staff occurred after the quarterback took a hit from Saints defensive tackle David Onyemata on a sack. The Panthers are now being investigated by the NFL and NFL Players Association for their handling of the incident after Newton returned to the field, missing just one play.

For a team with a history of placing bounties on opposing players and taking pride in injuring their opponents, Jordan’s tweet is not only distasteful from a personal standpoint but opens a closet full of skeletons for the franchise.

The two Cam’s were drafted in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Newton the first overall pick and Jordan hearing his name called 23 picks later by the Saints. As divisional rivals the two have met multiple times on the field but this season Jordan began addressing Newton and degrading the quarterback’s wardrobe choices during interviews.

Newton responded by simply stating he would send Jordan some items if provided his address.

After winning three games this season, Jordan is again attacking Newton with his posts on social media and a bottle of wine apparently shipped to Bank of America Stadium addressed to Newton. According to Mike Triplett of ESPN, Jordan provided the following comments on Newton and then followed through with the gift.

"“You beat the Carolina Panthers three times in a year, I’m gonna have to send this guy [Newton] a wine bottle. I appreciate him. So I’m gonna send him some sauce.”"

Newton is 7-8 against Jordan’s Saints since both entered the league, but the former has an NFL MVP Award, Super Bowl appearance and three divisional titles. As Drake says, “jealousy is just love and hate at the same time.”
