Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis has been named as an injury replacement on the Pro Bowl roster…

Thomas Davis has been suiting up for the Carolina Panthers for over a decade and minus two injury plagued seasons, has always been a consistent contributor. He immediately tasted success as the Panthers advanced to the NFC Championship game his rookie year, before falling to the Seattle Seahawks.

He was witness to a two win season, while recovering from a second knee injury in 2010 and following a third such incident, has gone on to play some of the best football in his career. In the six seasons since, Davis has been to the playoffs four times, played in a Super Bowl and enjoyed some personal goals as well.

Davis was named the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award winner for the 2014 NFL season, made his first Pro Bowl in 2015 and scored the only touchdown of his career in 2016. Playing alongside fellow linebacker Luke Kuechly, who arrived in 2012, Davis has provided veteran leadership and a locker room presence unmatched around the league.

Though not originally selected for participation in this year’s Pro Bowl, Davis was recently named an alternate for injured Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr. The appointment makes his third consecutive nomination as the Panthers captain enters his final season.

Already anticipating a reduced role next year, Davis has agreed to return fulfilling his contractual obligations but has stated that the 2018 season will be his last. One of only a handful of players to play their entire NFL careers with Carolina, Davis may be joined soon by current teammates, Ryan Kalil, Charles Johnson, J.J. Jansen and Jonathan Stewart.

This past season Davis registered 76 tackles, two and one-half sacks and one fumble recovery. He played in all but one game this season, missing Week 16 due to a suspension for a blindside block executed against Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams.

Unfortunately, the Panthers dynamic duo of Davis and Kuechly won’t be on display as the latter recently withdrew from the game with his own injury. Davis will however be joining fellow Panthers guard Trai Turner and kicker Graham Gano, who were both previously announced as members.
