Public Persona

Richardson could be found on game day in his luxury suite above the end zone but was rarely heard from otherwise. Preferring to keep a low profile in the public eye and rarely issuing any interviews or statements, the Panthers owner largely controlled his team out of sight from both fans and the media.

While this approach has merit, fans also appreciate a passionate owner who voices his or her opinions in regards to their organization. While not every decision should be played out with full media access to everyone, having a few initial interviews, addressing team performance and being actively involved, instead of just a funding source, can be beneficial.

This would also be a welcome change of pace from the only thing Panthers fans have known throughout the franchise’s existence.
