Panthers: Julius Peppers signs one year deal with team
Julius Peppers is coming back to the Carolina Panthers on a one-year deal.
Julius Peppers is coming back to the Carolina Panthers. Wednesday, the team announced that they would resign the defensive end to a one-year deal.
The deal itself is worth $5 million with $2.5 million guaranteed.
Peppers is the Panthers’ all-time sacks leader recording 92 sacks over a 10-year span. In his career, he has recorded 154.5 career sacks. That is the most among active players and the fourth-most in the history of the NFL.

He recorded 11 sacks last season, tied for the most on the team with Mario Addison. It seems as if Peppers continues to find the fountain of youth year after year. If nothing else, he continues to play at a high level.
Peppers has also been known for his durability throughout the course of his career. He has missed only two contests out of 256 career games. Last season was no different as he played in all 16 contests despite injuring his shoulder. He underwent surgery on it in February.
Even if he is at the back end of his career, Peppers is still a tremendous asset. Particularly on a defense that is seeing roster turnover, it I always nice to have familiarity in the fold. He can continue to serve as an asset to the younger defensive players. Peppers is certainly a guy they can learn from.
One thing to watch is if his play will stay the same or become even better under new defensive coordinator Eric Washington. We know Peppers plays at a high level, and it will be interesting to see how he fits into the defense. My guess is that he will continue to be a focal point of the pass rush.

Usually veterans who are older such as Julius Peppers ease into a smaller role as they age. Something tells me Peppers will not do that this coming season. If anything, he will continue to play at a high level.
