Panthers: Georgia star Nick Chubb set to meet with team
The Carolina Panthers will meet with the former Georgia running back next week…
The Carolina Panthers are bringing in some big names ahead of the NFL Draft. This latest name is one they have shown tremendous interest in. Georgia running back Nick Chubb has scheduled a visit next week with the Carolina Panthers per Stephen Igoe of 247Sports. This was first reported by ESPN’s Vaughn McClure.
As Igoe notes, Chubb is expected to be taken on Day 2 of the NFL Draft and could be a middle-round pick. He was destined for stardom at Georgia, but injuries bogged him down throughout the course of his time there.

In 2014 as a freshman, Chubb put up incredible numbers. He rushed for 1,547 yards and 14 touchdowns, pounding the rock 219 times. The injury bug hit him in 2015 as he tore ligaments in his knee, but he was able to return in 2016. Although he did not put up the same type of numbers as he did his freshman year, he was still impressive. Rushing for 1,130 yards, he had a successful comeback year. In 2017, his senior campaign, he put the “cherry on top” of what was a stellar career at Georgia. He rushed for 1,345 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Could Nick Chubb become a Panther? The team has shown interest in him throughout the draft process. I could certainly see why they would have interest. He is a very talented player. However, does the team need another running back? Personally, I do not think they do. They already have Christian McCaffrey and Fozzy Whittaker among others in their arsenal .I would also be wary of Chubb’s injury history. The type of injuries that he’s suffered could hinder him for the entirety of his professional career.
On the other hand, is this a “best player available” situation? If he is on the board, I am not sure you risk passing on him. He does have big-play capability when healthy and is one of the most dynamic running backs in the draft.
