Panthers: Mark Richardson endorses favorite ownership candidate
If it were up to Mark Richardson, the Carolina Panthers would be owned by one particular individual…
If anyone was hoping the Richardson family would stay mum about who their favorite candidate is to buy the Carolina Panthers, I am sorry to disappoint you with this latest news. Tuesday, Mark Richardson—the son of former Panthers owner Jerry Richardson— endorsed one particular candidate that he would like to see take over the reins.

“I’m sure there are multiple people that could be the right next owner. I personally know Ben (Navarro) and I know what he stands for,” Richardson told Joseph Person of the Observer on Tuesday. “I know where his heart and his head is, and what his commitments are. And I can’t imagine a better person being the next owner than him.”
Mark Richardson has not spoken with anybody on behalf of Navarro and although the younger Richardson may have his favorite, the final decision is up to his father.
Navarro could certainly be the right candidate for the position. In my estimation, it is important for the next owner to have ties to the Carolina area. Someone that knows what the football environment is like and that understands the level of passion the fans have for the game is important. Anytime an owner can accurately read the pulse of the fan base, that sets them up nicely for success.
The fact that the Carolina Panthers are currently enjoying a level of success will put the new owner in a nice position as well. Inheriting a winner with many impact players will surely make life a little easier.

After all the speculation, discussion, and reports, it will finally be nice to have this process over with. Hopefully once everything is completed, football news will be the only thing at the forefront of Panther headquarters. Three more months and training camp will begin. Not that I am counting down the days or anything.
