Round 3, 88th overall: Rashaad Penny, San Diego State running back

Rashaad Penny is a bruiser, something the Panthers need after the release of Jonathan Stewart. The Panthers met with Penny at his pro day and privately, and obviously are seriously considering spending a pick on him relatively early in the draft.

Penny rushed 289 times for 2,248 yards and two touchdowns in his fourth year at San Diego State, with 136 attempts for 1,018 yards the year before as well. Penny is ranked as the seventh-best running back in the draft by WalterFootball.com, and would be a bargain at 88th overall.
