The Carolina Panthers want to feature D.J. Moore right away…

When you are picked in the first round of the NFL Draft (pick No. 24 to be exact), chances are you are expected to come in and produce right away. For Carolina Panthers top pick D.J. Moore, he may have the opportunity to do so. Per a report from Stephen Igoe of 247Sports, Moore figures to see plenty of playing time in his rookie season.

"The most likely candidates to start across from (Devin) Funchess are (Torrey) Smith and Moore. Both players have great speed and can make plays down the field, which should theoretically open the field for the rest of the offense."

In theory, this should make the Carolina Panthers offense one of the most dangerous in the NFC. In addition to being able to make plays down the field, all three are also extremely athletic. If Cam Newton is forced to scramble out of the pocket, they have the ability to run back to the football if necessary.

Unfortunately for Panthers fans expecting Moore to come in and be an All-Pro right away, chances are there will be a learning curve. That is not to say he will not perform at a high level. Just be prepared if Moore struggles a bit at the outset. I can only imagine how difficult a NFL playbook is to learn. Combine that with the fact that everything will be going faster than at the collegiate level, the struggles would be understandable.

Wirth that being said, there is a better chances of Moore having a great season. Theoretically, defenders will be preoccupied with Funchess if he and Moore are on the field at any given time. That will give Moore the opportunity to take advantage of open space and be able to make big plays. If that happens, the Carolina Panthers could be in for a huge year on offense.

It will be interesting to see how well Moore does picking up the offense in training camp. Although there may be some uncertainties in the beginning, one has to think he will find his niche within the offense by midseason at the latest.
