In his first press conference as owner of the Carolina Panthers David Tepper made it clear what his main focus was….

With David Tepper being officially approved as owner of the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, the team has started a new regime. In his press conference following the signing, Tepper sounded like a man determined to win. The following quotes from Joseph Person and Katherine Peralta of the Charlotte Observer really stood out.

"“The first thing I care about is winning,” he said. “The second thing I care about is winning. Third thing I care about is winning. On and off the field.”More from Cat Crave3 reasons the Carolina Panthers won’t trade for Aaron Rodgers in 2023Dan Orlovsky’s temptation signifies Carolina Panthers ambition5 early cap casualties the Carolina Panthers could target in 20234 major observations from Panthers GM Scott Fitterer’s combine presser4 Carolina Panthers entering make-or-break situations in 2023"

Put it simply, he wants to have success both on the field and in the community. That aspect is very important, especially the community part. Too often, professional football players receive criticism from the general public for not doing enough in the community. It sounds like Tepper wants to make sure that as long as he is in charge, the players will do their part. That is a great thing.

The overall theme here is that he wants to be first in whatever he does and he expects his organization to be the same way.

Another thing Tepper mentioned in his press conference is the fact that the Carolina Panthers are not going anywhere.

"“What’s the name of the team? Carolina Panthers,” Tepper said. “It’s gonna stay the Carolina Panthers. Charlotte is the logical place for a stadium,” Tepper said."

I did not think Tepper was going to move the team anyway, but it is nice to get that reassurance. The Panthers have built up a loyal following in the area and to move them would be a terrible mistake. The team has one of the best fanbases in football and they look to be ready to continue their winning ways.

Tepper seems to be ready to continue bringing success to the Carolina Panthers organization. He seems to want to be hands-on with the team and leave his fingerprints on the organization. In this case, that is a very good thing. He knows what it takes to win and that should help take the organization to the next level.
