Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton ranks No. 25 in NFL Top-100 Players of 2018…

Each year following the 2010 NFL season a list of the top-100 players as voted on by their peers has been released. Carolina Panthers quarterback, Cam Newton, has been under center for all but one of those seasons and every year has landed among the league’s best.

Following a 15-1 regular season in 2015 and Super Bowl appearance, Newton was named as the No. 1 player in the NFL for the first time in his career. As a rookie, the Panthers signal caller ranked No. 40 and has bested his first appearance on the list three times.

Other than for 2015, Newton ranked No. 24 for his performance in 2013 and has been selected No. 25 in 2018. The third highest placement of his career after another playoff appearance, despite not winning the division.

Even in less than stellar seasons, players around the league recognize the impact Newton has on the Carolina offense and his ability to excel at the highest level. For 2012, 2014 and 2016 the Panthers former No. 1 overall pick ranked No. 46, 73 and 44, respectively.

Last year, Newton missed a majority of the preseason due to shoulder surgery on a torn rotator cuff. The injury forced him to not throw a football for months and slowly work his way back into an offensive rhythm without much live action preparation.

Limited in his development early, Newton went on to pass for over 3,000 yards and 22 touchdowns, while completing nearly 60-percent of his passes. On the ground, he garnered the most carries of his career (139) which resulted in his highest number of yards (754) and added six more scores.

His unique skill set and dynamic playmaking capabilities make for a unique combination at the quarterback position. Paired with new offensive coordinator Norv Turner, Newton may be poised for yet another stellar season this year.

Next: Panthers Could Win the NFC South

Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis is the only other player to currently receive a similar honor. Davis ranked No. 73 after earning his third straight Pro Bowl appearance last year.
